BIKE IT! Festival - Mit dem Rad nach Übersee

Cycling culture, culture and urban development: a not quite normal late summer weekend on Überseeinsel. Over the course of two days, a wide range of cycling, art, culture and music stakeholders come together between the time-honored buildings of the as yet unrenovated part of Überseeinsel. Manufacturers and dealers present bicycles and cargo bikes, equipment and clothing, including the opportunity to test them. Lectures and discussions will shed light on topics relating to cycling culture, travel, communities, lifestyle and urban development, the future and sustainability.

Get on your bike: bike games in a small space provide fun on two wheels, a mini-ramp is available and a small bike-meets-disc-golf parkour invites you to throw discs. Themed rides through beautiful and exciting corners of the city or gravel tours into the surrounding countryside start here.

Before and after, food stands and coffee bars provide refreshments. Children also get their money's worth with hands-on activities, handicrafts and bike rides, while Bremen's urban and transport planning department provides information on the latest developments. The artists' collective Kolleggs opens its doors, shows performances and open studios, offers guided tours and an information café.

And last but not least: with live music and an outdoor pub in Dr. Über's leisure clinic, you can put your bike down on Saturday evening.

Outside and free of charge, a portion of curiosity and a desire for cycling and urban culture is all you need to enter!

Five topics form a whole (festival):

Expo in the courtyard

A diverse and select expo showcases bicycles and equipment, cargo bikes and vintage cars, art structures and sports bikes. There will be initiatives for people and the environment and some projects from Überseeinsel. Food & drinks will be provided, with a showroom café, in the Mexican tent kitchen, at the coffee bike, at the ice cream bike and at the pop-up cargo bike kitchen.

Bike talks

The talks and reports will be exciting. Cycle travelers will report and initiatives will shed light on how children and their friends can travel by bike with fun and safety, tradespeople will talk about their day-to-day work with cargo bikes, gravel communities will talk about their origins, players in cycling culture will present their projects and Bremen's transport planning department will open the planning books.

Testing, workshops, riding fun

Fun in a small space and on two wheels: Testing opportunities on the grounds, games and skill challenges on the bike, the Sportgarten miniramp in the courtyard, a small bicycle disc golf course invites you to throw, riding technique workshops and children's formats for playing on two wheels.

Go for a ride yourself!

Meet up to cycle: Tours into the city start at the festival: themed laps with info sections and gravel rides are on the program, leading to beautiful and interesting corners of the city and back again. The Überseeinsel leads to the hotspots of the district.

Art, culture, music

The Kollegg studios and workshops open their doors, offer guided tours, performances and hands-on activities, there is live music and DJs on the grounds, Dr. Über's leisure clinic is open, with bands and DJs on Saturday evening.
