BIRKEN (Eröffnung)
In the organizer's words:
Time and again, yet always differently—Fritz Overbeck and Hermine Overbeck-Rohte tirelessly painted birch trees. These delicate trees with their gleaming white trunks are among the most important motifs of Worpswede landscape painting around 1900. In oil paintings, drawings, etchings, and watercolors—whether rendered delicately or powerfully, as individual trunks or entire birch avenues—the multifaceted nature of the birch as a unique landscape motif unfolds.
Museum Director Katja Pourshirazi speaks.
