The Turkish-Greek relationship is characterized by a rich common culture - but also by sad political processes. The burning of the metropolis of Smyrna/Izmir on the west coast of Anatolia in September 1922 meant death, displacement and suffering for almost 2 million people and continues to shape their descendants to this day. This, too, is part of the genesis of the Turkish Republic, which celebrates its centenary shortly before these last two performances. With the recruitment agreements in the early sixties, thousands of Greeks and Turks came to Munich. Currently, up to nine percent of the city's population has a Greek or Turkish family background. Over the decades, an atmosphere has developed in the labor migration that offers space for exchange and solidarity. Munich artists Costas Gianacacos and Tuncay Acar want to make use of this. They are developing "Biz - We - εμείς (Emeis)" - a musical lecture-performance. The historical events and their consequences for the present are made understandable, narratives are reformulated, the history of separation is experienced together.
