For over two decades, it has been the powerful mixture of traditional hard rock influences and emotionality that has made Black Stone Cherry spectacular. The quartet from Edmonton/Kentucky combines hard rock and rousing guitar riffs with contemporary energy and knows how to inspire worldwide. Since their third album "Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea" (2011), they have achieved international chart success, which was further underpinned by their album "Screamin' at the Sky", released in September. It seems like the opposite of their raw, wild sound: singer and guitarist Chris Robertson, drummer John Fred Young, bassist Jon Lawhon and guitarist Ben Wells grew up in very idyllic surroundings and founded Black Stone Cherry in 2001. They discovered their love of rock music, which is in their blood, through their parents' records. They developed their own style from classic influences such as Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd and AC/DC. The result is a no-frills, passionate, riff-oriented hard rock with a southern touch.
In the USA, Black Stone Cherry have been invited on tour by legends such as Def Leppard, Motörhead, Whitesnake and their heroes Lynyrd Skynyrd. Live, the positive mentality and exuberant enthusiasm of this musically uncompromising group is particularly striking. This success made them work all the more consistently. All subsequent albums - "Magic Mountain" (2014), "Kentucky" (2016), "Family Tree" (2018) and "The Human Condition" (2020) - have deservedly become international hits.
After the band swapped their usual live recording method for detailed track-by-track recordings on their last album, Black Stone Cherry returned to their usual approach for "Screamin' at the Sky" with new bassist Steve Jewell: the twelve songs were recorded live in an old theater in Kentucky. In doing so, they once again express the enormous urgency that has always characterized their live shows. Following their successful European tour in June, the quartet will be coming back to Germany for six more shows between October 29 and November 14. The stops are: Berlin, Hamburg, Dresden, Frankfurt, Munich and Cologne.
Special guest at all six shows will be the impressive, exceptional guitarist Ayron Jones from Seattle, whose furious mixture of Jimi Hendrix licks, blues feeling, grunge hardness and occasional detours into soul is second to none. He is also bringing a new album with him: The fourth work "Chronisches of the Kid", released at the end of 2023.
