In the organizer's words:
BLUE JEAN
Director: Georgia Oakley
Cast: Rosy McEwen, Kerrie Hayes, Lucy Halliday
Newcastle 1988: Jean works as a PE teacher and loves the punk Viv. A new pupil turns up and threatens to reveal her sexuality. Jean resorts to extreme measures to avoid losing her job. Shot on 16 millimeter film, Oakley tells an aesthetically gripping and not too heavy story of a repressive England in the 1980s.
"Blue Jean" shows the resistant power of a queer community whose themes have lost none of their relevance today. At its premiere in Venice, the film received the Audience Award in the Giornate degli Autori section. At the British Independent Film Awards 2022, it was nominated in 13 categories and won four awards - Rosy McEwen received the award for "Best Actress in a Leading Role".
