BLUES SESSION
In the organizer's words:
The Elville Blues Band with Volker Strifler
The Elville Blues Band, led by Tom Schaffert, celebrates the blues every month with different guests at the dasHaus Cultural Center.
On November 19, Volker Strifler will be a guest at the monthly blues session at the dasHaus Cultural Center—together with the ElVille Blues Band.
The blues session organized by the Förderverein dasHaus e.V. stands for authentic, live music, spontaneous encounters, and the full diversity of the blues. Every month, the ElVille Blues Band teams up with different guest musicians from the German and international scenes and invites the audience to experience music up close and personal, without any elaborate staging.
This November, Volker Strifler—a versatile guitarist, singer, and songwriter—is coming to Ludwigshafen. The German-born musician is deeply rooted in the blues but continually opens up his sound to rock, jazz, and Latin influences. His connection to the music of New Orleans, in particular, is unmistakable. Sometimes Strifler plays fast and raw, other times relaxed and understated—always with a keen sense of groove and musical dynamics.
A large part of his repertoire consists of his own compositions. Since his first solo release, “Full Moon,” Strifler has released several albums and made a name for himself internationally. “The Dance Goes On” showcased him not only as a virtuoso guitarist and singer, but also as a songwriter and producer. His music has been played by renowned U.S. radio stations such as WWOZ in New Orleans and KPFA in San Francisco, among others.
Strifler has also made a name for himself as a member of the Ford Blues Band. For many years, he collaborated with Robben, Patrick, and Mark Ford and contributed to several of the band’s releases.
At the Blues Session, the focus is now on the shared musical moment. Under the motto “What you see is what you get,” Volker Strifler’s distinctive sound meets the ElVille Blues Band’s joy of playing—for an evening that embraces the blues without confining it to any single form.
