Bonga
Concert

Around fifty years ago, people in Angola, Guinea, Cape Verde and Mozambique kicked off the Portuguese revolution through their anti-colonial movements - and made the inevitable a reality. José Adelino Barceló de Carvalho, better known as Bonga, emerged as a legend from the Angolan independence movement.

Bonga's music is a flowing mix of semba and kizomba rhythms with influences from fado and samba elements. Bonga entered the global music stage with his seminal album Angola 72 - a timeless classic that has been recognized for both its artistic merit and its role in documenting a pivotal historical moment. In his lyrics and melodies, Bonga captures the spirit of the liberation movement along themes of resistance, solidarity and longing for freedom.

Today, Bonga can look back on a successful career spanning five decades, around forty albums and some 400 songs. With his latest album, Kintal Da Banda (2022), he returns to the formative places of his childhood, in particular the farmyard of his childhood home, where he developed his social and political awareness as well as his capacity for tenderness and rebellion. With his music and captivating performances, the spirited 81-year-old invites his audience to share a space of conviviality. His compositions resonate deeply with the spirit of liberation and serve as anthems for those engaged in various struggles for freedom - as terapia that offers solace in shared experiences and fosters a sense of solidarity and emotional resilience.

Dengue Dengue Dengue
Live set

Felipe Salmon and Rafael Pereira are the duo behind the masks of Dengue Dengue Dengue. The two producers, DJs and graphic designers, who have been living in Europe for a decade, are known for their innovative approach to experimental bass music, fusing traditional rhythms from the Andean and Peruvian jungles with influences from other geographies and transforming them into a unique fusion of sound and visuals. Their musical palette encompasses various genres from psychedelic cumbia to dub, from salsa to footwork, from tribal house to techno.

For Sonic Pluriverse Festival: Terapia, they have enlisted the support of percussionist Miguel Ballumbrosio, who is closely linked to the cultural heritage of Afro-Peruvian communities. These communities have preserved their musical traditions for generations. Together, they promise a captivating performance that celebrates the versatility and richness of Afro-Peruvian rhythms - such as festejo and landó with deep basslines that vibrate body and soul alike.

VHOOR
DJ set

At the age of 25, VHOOR - both as a solo artist and as part of Weird Baile - is at the forefront of electronic music production, constantly pushing boundaries and exploring new sonic horizons. Inspired by the roots of Baile Funk, he enriches the Miami Bass and Latin Freestyle genres that originated in the favelas with various international influences such as Amapiano, UK Garage and Breakbeat.

On his landmark 2021 album Baile, a collaboration with Brazilian rapper FBC, VHOOR once again delves into the essence of the genre, offering a contemporary interpretation that will resonate with both traditional and modern audiences. Through his innovative production techniques, VHOOR not only explores new lines of artistic development, but also shows his audience a liberating perspective, taking them on a transformative journey of sonic exploration and cultural immersion.
