About the program:

"Nothing in the world can replace the adventure of performing a piece to an audience for the very first time." So says Irvine Arditti, whose world-class ensemble has played a major role in the development of contemporary music for 50 years. Several hundred string quartets have been composed for the Arditti Quartet, including Or bahir by Oldenburg-born composer Sarah Nemtsov, who gave up her promising solo career as an oboist to write "wildly proliferating inspiration" (Deutschlandfunk) in order to write incredibly suggestive aural dramas that constantly penetrate new worlds of sound.
