Pleasurable juxtaposition

Brad Mehldau is one of the most exciting voices in contemporary jazz piano. With him, improvisation meets structure, freedom meets rigor, jazz meets classical and pop, his own songs meet new, often daring interpretations of other people's music. At his solo concert in the Elbphilharmonie, Mehldau will play his "14 Reveries", among other pieces. The pianist himself calls these little musical reveries "distillations of emotions".
