In the organizer's words:
Amsterdam-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.
Bram van Langen studied guitar at the conservatory in Alkmaar. Bram has given more than 1200 concerts all over Europe; from Iceland to Portugal, from Paris to Berlin, from Sweden to Sicily.
He has also performed on major stages such as the Paradiso and the Melkweg in Amsterdam.
He also plays as a backing musician in other bands, most recently with indie songwriters The Coo, Mitch Julius, Lewin and Annabel Laura.
On stage, Bram seeks peace and quiet - places where he can collect his thoughts and escape the pressure and pace of our noisy modern world. He does this above all in Sweden, where he feels most at home.
Bram is a thinker, sensitive to the smallest gestures and moments - in his music this is expressed in carefully weighed notes and words, chosen as much for their sound and rhythm as their meaning, and shaped into a uniquely tuned poetic structure that makes the listener listen even closer.
Inspired by artists such as Nick Drake, Paul Simon and Paul McCartney, he has a similar penchant for catchy melodies and warm, mesmerizing harmonies in which the listener can find a quiet place to linger.
In 2021, Bram released two EPs. For the recording of "Twelve Years", he was accompanied by Tim Langedijk, with whom he has been playing in various constellations for over twenty years. With just two guitars and a few microphones, they sat opposite each other in Tim's living room.
In this way, they captured the intimacy of a strong and unspoken musical bond - giving the listener the feeling of being in the same room with them. All you can hear is the concentration, natural interplay and playfulness that comes from two musicians playing live together.
In an attempt to curb his own urge to overthink things, Bram decided to record his songs not only live, but also in just a few takes.
In this way, he manages to combine the skills of a meticulous songwriter with the spontaneity of a live performance, giving us a sense of the intimacy that exists between two musicians who love nothing more than to play.
Written over the course of twelve years, the songs represent an emotional journey through some of Bram's reflections and life-changing encounters. Turbulent times, busy touring schedules, depression, the loss of loved ones; only in recent years has he come to terms with his past and felt ready to finally share the songs in their purest form. He has also just released his first full length album entitled "Island".
