On their research expedition to Brazil (1817-1820), Johann Baptist von Spix and Carl Friedrich Philipp von Martius not only devoted themselves to the flora and fauna. Their three-volume journey in Brazil is also a rare source for Brazilian Lundu dance melodies at the beginning of the 19th century.
On the concert evening, musical works that have been handed down to us will be played together with excerpts from the records of other travelers from the time.
The concert is being held as part of the celebrations to mark the 200th anniversary of German immigration to Brazil. The event is a cooperation with the Consulate General of Brazil in Munich.
