Alfred Andersch: Father of a Murderer:

Munich actress Brigitte Hobmeier reads Alfred Andersch's moving and oppressive tale, which impressively addresses authority, abuse of power and the beginnings of National Socialism.

Alfred Andersch spent his youth and high school years in Munich, a time that found its way into some of his books, but especially into the story "Der Vater eines Mörders" (The Father of a Murderer). He completed it in January 1980, four weeks before his death. In it, Andersch recounts a Greek lesson at the humanist Wittelsbacher Gymnasium in Munich in May 1928. The story, which is based on an autobiographical episode, is regarded as the author's political and literary legacy. In the sadistic, humanistically disguised exposure of the pupil Franz Kein, on whom the principal Joseph Gebhard Himmler exercises his authoritarian teaching methods, Alfred Andersch draws the psychogram of a person against the backdrop of the rise of fascism.

Brigitte Hobmeier is a Munich theater veteran. She became famous as a member of the Munich Volkstheater ensemble from 2002 to 2005 with roles such as Geierwally and Lulu. From 2013 to 2015, she appeared on stage as Buhlschaft at the Salzburg Festival. She then performed at the Münchner Kammerspiele until 2017 and at the Residenztheater since 2019/20. Brigitte Hobmeier has received numerous awards for her acting on stage and in front of the camera, including the German Theater Prize, the Bavarian Film Prize and the Grimme Prize. She was last seen in the series "Oktoberfest 1905". In 2025, Brigitte Hobmeier received the Bavarian Poetry Award.
