Britt Hatzius »Moving out Loud«

PICK OF THE DAY
You cannot miss this event.
In the organizer's words:

"Moving Out Loud" is an experience of dance without sight. In the middle of the stage, the audience dives into a soundscape of voices, descriptions and moving bodies with their eyes closed. Their own body, movement and dance can be experienced purely acoustically in a playful way. The performance, which was developed together with blind and sighted dancers, deals with (self-) audio description and the possibilities of empathic resonance that arise when dance is perceived primarily acoustically.

The encounter between different protagonists, voices and bodies is a playful exploration of the experience of movement that goes beyond the visual aspect of dance. In the midst of the audible stage presence of dancers and without any visual reference, a very individual idea of dance and body perception opens up to the audience.

Based on the teaching method of the blind ballet dancer Krishna Washburn, who works with self-audio description in her online Dark Room Ballet workshops , Britt Hatzius explored the acoustic potential of dance together with the blind dancer Pernille Sonne, the blind singer Gerlinde Sämann, the sighted dancers Cecilia Ponteprimo and Livia Vogt, Lorenzo Ponteprimo and Georgia Begbie. This joint exploration is now made accessible to sighted and non-sighted audiences with the help of the immersive sound installation OTTOsonics.
