The British countertenor Tim Mead is not only celebrated for his elegant, warm tone and his rich, melting sound. His seductive and stylistically confident interpretations in a rich repertoire are also second to none. One of the main focuses is baroque music. Which is why Sir Simon Rattle has literally knitted the program of the next BRSO baroque matinee around Tim Mead with wonderful cantatas and arias by Bach and Handel. But the baroque ensemble of BRSO musicians themselves will also be in the spotlight, with two of Handel's concerti grossi, which the composer originally wrote as accompaniments and interludes to operas or oratorios. Their magnificent and festive character makes it easy to be intoxicated by them.
