BRSO | Sounds Like Silence
In the organizer's words:
Based on Cage's statement in his famous provocation "4'33''" that there is never perfect silence, the program will also indulge in the simultaneous intoxication of all sensory impressions, as experienced by Cage, Cunningham and Twombly on their travels in the Mediterranean region and as a concert in a museum setting can offer.
Framed by the very expressive Twombly paintings, especially the large-format Rose paintings, the quartet wants to build a bridge from the theme of (unattainable) silence to the colorful and multi-layered music of Ravel.
The concert accompanies the exhibition "Five Friends. John Cage, Merce Cunningham, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly".
