Q&A with director Sebastian Husak after the film
Bubbles is tightly crafted, brilliantly acted indie cinema from Germany. The film tells a gripping story about the beliefs we use to construct our identities - and how those beliefs begin to falter quickly, when we're confronted with ghosts from the past. Fiete and his girlfriend Amiri go to a holiday home by the sea, where Fiete's childhood friend unexpectedly shows up. Suddenly, the dynamic between the three shifts, and old stories resurface - stories that Fiete had long suppressed and that don't quite align with Amiri 's image of him.
