In 1942 Belgrade, Isak Ras embarks on a search for the remains of his past, guided by a burning question: where is his mother? Marko Dinić weaves eight narrative strands into a captivating mystery in his sophisticated family novel. His "Book of Faces" (Zsolnay) is memoir literature in a modern form, an impressive text about the history of Serbia and Europe in the twentieth century. At the invitation of the LMU graduate program "Family Matters", he will present it in readings and in conversation with Riccardo Nicolosi, Professor of Slavic Philology, and together with the students will question the intergenerational power of the family.
