BücherBesuch – Geöffnet für Neugier

600 current books for children and young people will be on display for the first time at the Sprengel Museum Hannover from June 5 to 12 during "BücherBesuch - Geöffnet für Neugier". In addition to the book exhibition, there will also be workshops and creative discovery tours through the museum for school classes.

It all starts on Friday, June 5, from 2.30 pm. At 4 p.m., children's book author Ingo Siegner will read from his picture book "Kunstraub im Sprengel Museum", opening the multi-day program. Also taking part: art educators, authors and illustrators who will encourage people to become creative themselves.

The weekend program from 5 to 7 June is aimed at families with children from the age of three - on Saturday and Sunday during the museum's regular opening hours.

During the week, from 8 to 12 June, the program is open to school classes from years 1 to 7. Registration is possible until May 15 at: www.fbk-niedersachsen.de/anmeldung.

New name, new concept

The exhibition has a long tradition: it has been touring Hanover as "Youth Book Week" since the 1950s. Under the new name "BücherBesuch - Geöffnet für Neugier" (Visiting Books - Open for Curiosity), the format will set new accents every two years together with changing cultural institutions. The Sprengel Museum will kick things off. Accompanied by introductions from the city library and readings by the Friedrich-Bödecker-Kreis Niedersachsen e.V., the books will then travel through more than 30 schools for two years.
