Buchpremiere mit Özge İnan – »Die Dichterin«
In the organizer's words:
Following*Of Course You Can’t Live Here*, Özge İnan’s follow-up novelisfinallyhere. *The Poet* is a book about authenticity and appropriation, poetry and truth, and the power of scandal. We’re thrilled that she’ll be joining us at Pfefferberg Haus 13 on August 5 to celebrate the book launch!
Emma Rodenstock is a phenomenon. Critics, talk shows, and audiences are all clamoring for the young poet from the working class. She gives a face to the debate on classism and privilege. Until Nazanin Esfahani, an up-and-coming journalist, uncovers a discrepancy in her story. Very soon, a second poet emerges who claims to have written Emma’s poems. Could this be true? It would be a major scandal. And for Nazanin, a coup. But who does that help? And who does it hurt? A highly entertaining novel about the power of stories in the age of the attention economy.
“A heroine you both admire and despise. I want to be friends with Emma, and I’m afraid of her.” Caroline Wahl
“Told with such intelligence and wit as only Özge İnan can. A headlong plunge into questions of authenticity, appropriation, and public outrage. A scandalously good book!” Mithu Sanyal
Özge İnan, born in Berlin in 1997, gained recognition online for her short political essays while studying law. She now works as a journalist for publications including *Der Freitag*, *Zeit Online*, and the *Süddeutsche Zeitung*. *Of Course You Can’t Live Here * is her first novel.
