BUCHVORSTELLUNG: Johanna und die Maske der Makonde
In the organizer's words:
Alone in the museum, Johanna watches as a sinister figure steals the impressive Makonde mask. As she chases after the thief, she runs into none other than that annoying Anton. Coincidence? Suspicion falls not only on the two children but also on Johanna’s Tanzanian grandfather, her Babu. After all, he had clearly stated that the mask belongs back in Tanzania. It’s high time for Johanna, her best friend Sweta, and Anton to launch an investigation.
The novel not only presents a tricky case involving colonial looted art but also tells the story of two special friendships. The film adaptation of Johanna’s story will hit theaters in fall 2026 and is titled “The Secret of the Stolen Mask.” On October 11, 2026, the preview will take place at the GRASSI Museum of Ethnology (with the cast and crew in attendance). Recommended age: 6 and up.
