An incredibly funny, fast and crazy screwball comedy.
1934 in Cleveland: Lucille Wiley, the opera director of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company, is preparing for the once-in-a-lifetime event of welcoming the world-class soprano Elena Firenzi for a guest performance of CARMEN. But Elena arrives far too late, is not feeling well, and then her husband Pasquale disappears after a passionate jealousy scene. When Elena is found seemingly lifeless in bed thanks to an overdose of sleeping pills, it is up to the inconspicuous assistant Jo to save the evening and slip into the role of the opera star, because one thing is certain: CARMEN MUST NOT PLAY. But as soon as Jo alias Elena alias Carmen is on stage, the real Firenzi wakes up and wants to go on stage... and when Jo's fiancé and a real Dutch heroic tenor are also up for amorous adventures, the confusion is perfect.
