While Düsseldorf loses itself in the confetti rain, on Sunday, February 15, the
Pitcher opens its doors to all those who are looking for something other than carnival and want to experience real,
handmade music instead. Three metal bands, three different styles:
Drown in Embers, Pit of Doom and Signs of Wear bring everything from modern metal to
gloomy doom sounds, everything to make the hearts of non-celebrities beat faster.
No Helau, no Alaaf, no costume, no carnival. Just honest noise and cold beer.
But that's not all: in addition to the concentrated load of live sound, you can expect a
a small, themed surprise program that perfectly matches the anti-carnival mood.

PIT OF DOOM
PIT OF DOOM WAS FOUNDED IN APRIL 2001 IN OBERHAUSEN (NRW). OVER THE YEARS, THE BAND CONSISTED MAINLY OF BASSIST KATHARINA GUTHOFF
GUTHOFF AND HER BROTHER FABIAN GUTHOFE, WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DRUMS AND VOCALS. PIT OF DOOM IS COMPLETED BY LUKAS ULLRICH, WHO HAS BEEN PART OF THE BAND AS GUITARIST SINCE 2009. PIT OF DOOM HAVE BEEN THROUGH SEVERAL STYLES AND GENRES IN OVER 20 YEARS, BUT SINCE 2013 AND THEIR ALBUM ATONEMENT AT THE LATEST, THEY HAVE BEEN MOVING IN A MIX OF GROOVE, DEATH AND MODERN METAL. IT TOOK THE TRIO EIGHT YEARS TO RELEASE THEIR SECOND LONGPLAYER DESPAIRITY IN EARLY 2021 IN COLLABORATION WITH THE FINEST NOISE. THE FIRST SINGLE "CONSTRUCTORS" WAS RELEASED IN MID-DECEMBER 2020, FOLLOWED BY THE SINGLES "THE HOLLOW, THE LOST AND "WHEN LIGHT BECOMES THE DEMON". THE BAND IS WORKING ON ITS THIRD STUDIO ALBUM IN 2025 AND HAS ALREADY PERFORMED A FEW NEW SONGS AT RECENT SHOWS.

DROWN IN EMBERS
Drown in Embers was founded in 2012 by Peter Lützeler (guitar), Martin Blum
(drums) and Reinhart Redel (bass). Four years after their
former band "Exchased" had broken up, the musicians came back together to
musicians came together again to develop the concept for Drown in Embers and to incorporate their
influences gained during this time.
After the first songs had been written and the concept had developed into a real
band, the search for a second guitarist and a singer began.

In 2022 there was another replacement on guitar. After Laurenz Molnar had to leave the

SIGNS OF WEAR
"Signs of Wear" - the name says it all. The band stands for music that leaves its mark. Genuine, raw, emotional sounds that reflect life, with all its fractures, scars and beauties. "Signs of Wear" does not mean decay - it means history, experience and authenticity. And that is exactly what the music conveys.
Musically, the band plays metal without being pigeonholed. Sometimes brute and angry, sometimes melodic and thoughtful - their songs are multi-faceted and thrive on contrast. The influences range from modern groove elements to classic heavy riffs and atmospheric moments that leave room for depth. Every song tells a story - honest, unembellished and close to life.
The classic line-up - guitar & vocals, lead guitar, bass and drums - gives the band its solid foundation. But what they make of it is far more than standard: complex arrangements meet catchy melodies, raw energy meets emotional depth.
Despite its musical intensity, "Signs of Wear" remains approachable. The band is not a detached artificial figure, but a grounded unit of people who live what they do with passion and conviction. Authenticity is paramount to them - both on and off stage.
