In the organizer's words:
“22 Tracks,” “Wind Force 17,” and “The Assistant”—three million books sold in three years. In her new novel, “1,999 Meters Above Sea Level,” Caroline Wahl tells the story of a young woman who, with complete freedom and no modesty, aims high. Via Bali and Berlin, she arrives at the ideal place for social climbers: St. Moritz. There, with her bright orange-dyed hair, she suddenly finds herself among the rich and famous, posing as an artist. It all feels surprisingly good for a long time—if it weren’t for that handsome man with the ice-blue eyes…
“1,999 Meters Above Sea Level” is a wild roller-coaster ride through life. A story that oscillates between despair and comedy—and, incidentally, a portrait of our times.
“The author makes it clear: she is a young woman, and she’s in complete control. That is her message.”Süddeutsche Zeitung
