The Fat Cat cultural center in the old Gasteig invites you to the CATropolis Festival 'Winter Edition' on 12 December 2025! From 4 pm, the old Gasteig will open its doors for a winter festival that celebrates the diversity and creative energy of the artists who have moved in - open end!

A day full of art, culture and exchange
Visitors can expect a varied program with live music, live karaoke, drag shows, theater, workshops, exhibitions, raves and a Christmas market.

Two years of Fat Cat in the former Gasteig - we're celebrating!
Fat Cat gGmbH has been active as an interim use in the old Gasteig for over two years. Over 800 transponders have now been allocated for the approx. 200 rented rooms. The artists, associations and cultural professionals bring life into the building and out into the city - the festival gives you the opportunity to get to know them.

Black Box & music program

The numerous Fat Cat musicians and performance artists provide a diverse program of music to set the mood:

The O-Tunes Big Band will open the event in the foyer. The Bud Spencer Heart Choir brings humorous musical power to the stage, followed by winter-themed DJ sets with visuals and projections.

In the Black Box, the hip-hop dance school Step2Diz opens the program with an energetic performance, followed by Forward Rain Boy.

Afterwards, Caro Kelley invites you to live band karaoke with the well-known Munich band French Kiss - singing along is expressly encouraged!

Pinay Colada and other artists really heat things up in the Black Box before the Grell Kollektiv closes the evening with a 'Tacky Winter Rave' - perfect for dancing into the morning.

The Republic: Jazz Club on the first floor provides jazzy vibes with four bands and an open jam session.

The next generation is also represented: The teen band "Meet the Animals" will be showing off their skills, followed by the bands Aggressive Swans and Mailänder, who will be performing in the Live Evil Club.

Activities, workshops & more

There is not only a lot to discover on the stages:

With a hot cup of mulled wine or punch, you can stroll through the foyers, visit stalls, print jute bags and drop in on the numerous activities in and around the building.

The artists open their studios and ateliers and provide insights into their work.
The Tool Library / Mach's Ganz invites you to a craft activity, there is a VR workshop in the Pixel, and public rehearsals and presentations take place on the 3rd floor.
Among other things, the Munich Music School offers open and free piano and singing lessons.

The Refudocs association and Theaterwerk München will be giving presentations in their rooms.
Mini München offers a puzzle room for children, while architect Enrica Ferrucci explores questions relating to democratic architecture together with children aged 6 and over in a tape art workshop:
How does our city show that we are a free society? What do we need for the future?

The Bavarian State Center for Political Education invites you to a democracy trail and a democracy pub quiz.

The inclusive theater project "Theater Apropos", the children's theater by Bettina Ullrich ("Frau Rettich rechnet") and actor Michael Seyfried with a performative reading of his book "Schöpfungsrausch" can be experienced in the stage room "Labor" on the first floor.

The Lucky Punch Comedy Club will keep everyone in a good mood with two free shows in the afternoon.
Live concerts and a Christmas market on the terrace await guests at the Live Evil Club .

Lumen Artist will be illuminating the building with light installations that will bathe the old Gasteig in a new light.
