𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲 have been pushing the boundaries of heavy music for over fifteen years, ever since they emerged from the celebrated hardcore punk scene of Lyon. When they started out, their music was absolutely brutal, a mission in search of the heaviest sound imaginable. Despite the fact that they harnessed the power of black metal and post-hardcore, the music was a beast all its own, leaving the boundaries and clichés of those genres far behind to arrive at something completely unique. Extremity on their own terms.

Always forward-thinking and this time even more emboldened by the huge success of "Infidèle(s)" in 2017 and the deal with Nuclear Blast, the follow-up was always going to be something radical. But even by their own excessively high standards, 2022's "Assassine(s)" is a huge step forward. While it's still an album of crashing walls of guitar, relentless rhythm and passages of blissful, rushing release, it's also unlike anything the band has ever released. With a modern, forward-thinking production, it's just as complex, but more direct, diverse and accessible than ever before. And the French always know how to impress live too, regularly sweeping people off their feet both at their own concerts and at festivals.
