Since the release of Don't Think About Death, Chalk Hands have toured extensively across the UK and Europe - including runs with Touché Amoré and Frail Body - and have performed at festivals such as ArcTanGent (UK) and Sonic Rites (Finland). Their touring has also taken them as far as Turkey, a quiet milestone for a band still finding new corners of the world to reach, and hoping this new record will carry them even further.
Willing to push their sound to new extremes, the band now stands more assured and expansive than ever. Compared to previous material, The Line That Shapes the Coast of Us is equally lighter and more hopeful as it is darker and heavier - an album that embraces contrast as its defining strength.
Recorded with producer Tom Hill at The Bookhouse Recording Studio, Chalk Hands have refined their craft with striking precision. Where their debut grappled with mortality and internal struggle, this record also turns its gaze outward, tracing the boundaries that form, erode, and reshape the ties between people and places. The result is a sweeping, immersive collection that balances visceral catharsis with quiet introspection - music that mirrors the push and pull of tides and time.
Across its 44-minute runtime, The Line That Shapes the Coast of Us reinforces Chalk Hands' standing as one of the UK's most exciting and emotionally articulate heavy bands. Their sound continues to bridge genres - screamo, post-rock, post-hardcore, shoegaze, ambient, and post-metal - and whilst always executed in a way that feels somehow seamless, there's also a palpable sense of evolution here to further underline that sentiment.
Lyrically, the songs collectively form a meditation on existence at the edge - between light and shadow, memory and oblivion, connection and solitude. Always digging toward meaning, even when the ground keeps collapsing.
With this new chapter, Chalk Hands reaffirm what their music has always promised: hope found through devastation - the lines we draw, and the ones that reshape us.
The Line That Shapes the Coast of Us releases March 27th, 2026 via Dog Knights Productions on digital, deluxe vinyl, CD and cassette.
