Chris Hopkins, born in Princeton, N.J. (USA), has long been considered one of the most renowned musicians on the jazz scene thanks to his colorful, creative style, and can look back on an impressive 5,000 concerts, ranging from exclusive clubs to the Elbphilharmonie. Most recently, he has won numerous awards, such as the “German Record Critics’ Award” and the “Keeper of the Flame” for his contributions to classic jazz in Europe.

For this extraordinary concert, he presents a truly international all-star lineup: Leading the ensemble is Australian Nicki Parrott, one of the most renowned double bassists in the jazz world, who lived in New York for several decades and made a name for herself internationally from there—especially as a singer with stunning charisma and natural grace. Her versatile programs include songs from the repertoires of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee, and many others. Her debut album, “Moon River,” was released in 2008, and soon after, she became a recording star for a major Japanese record label. Joining her are Finland’s best-known jazz musician and the incredibly virtuosic Benny Goodman-style clarinetist Antti Sarpila, as well as the legendary Dutch drummer Frits Landesbergen—currently the star of the Dutch Swing College Band.

The program features classics from the swing era drawn from the repertoires of Ella Fitzgerald, Benny Goodman, and beyond, as well as other gems from the “Great American Songbook”—from Cole Porter to George Gershwin—spiced with a touch of Hollywood glamour à la Henry Mancini and much more.

Chris Hopkins and his international friends play their way through an unforgettable evening with gusto, swinging for all they’re worth. Casual yet elegant, rousing, and entertaining.
Unbridled enthusiasm, multiple encores, and standing ovations are the norm, so be sure to get your tickets early!
