The solo exhibition of the painter Christoph M. Gais (*1951 in Stuttgart) at the Museum Küppersmühle in Duisburg is the first public presentation of the artist in a German museum in 35 years. Gais has developed his work with unconditional consistency and in self-imposed isolation, and now appears in public with a selection of about 80 works from the years since 1990.
The exhibition is curated by Thomas Huber, himself an important painter who follows very different principles in his work than Christoph M. Gais -a result of an exciting dialogue between two opposing but close friends.
