The feverish combination of traditional Kenyan music and contemporary electronics is the foundation of the fascinating world of Odd Okoddo. The duo is the joint project of drummer and producer Sven Kacirek and Kenyan singer-songwriter Olith Ratego, who met in 2009 during the recording of Kacirek's highly acclaimed album "The Kenya Sessions". Ten years later, they released their first record together, which took them from Nairobi around the world via the influential Nyege Nyege Festival in Uganda. Since then, Odd Okoddo have become an integral part of the field of international music - and have now teamed up with dodo singer Ogoya Nengo for their new album "Palagoma". Ogoya Nengo is one of the best-known representatives of the vocal tradition of the Luo community in western Kenya, whose call-and-response rhythms combine with the synthesizer sounds of Sven Kacirek and Olith Ratego's Kenya Blues to create music that invites ecstatic dancing and sounds unlike anything you've heard before. The trio is now celebrating the start of their first European tour together in Bremen - not to be missed!
