Club der verbotenen Bücher – Silent Book Club Special

In the organizer's words:

Thousands of books have been removed from American school libraries in recent years. Books about racism, sexuality, gender identity and history in particular are disappearing from the shelves. At our Silent Book Club Special, we want to give these books space and a voice.

As usual at the SBC, you bring the book you would like to read. Our request: It should be a book that you know has been banned from libraries. It can be current books or books by authors who were banned during the Nazi era. You can find reading suggestions by clicking on the links.

The schedule remains the same as for a regular Silent Book Club

18:30-19:00 - Introduction of the participants, exchange about what you would like to read tonight.
19:00-20:00 - Silent reading time
20:00-20:30 - Exchange about what you have read and your impressions - or simply continue reading.

The meeting takes place in the Elbvororte Book Hall and is free of charge. As we only have limited space, please register by e-mail at elbvororte@buecherhallen.de.
