In the sixties, there was a band playing on every street corner in Ghana's capital Accra. It was the golden era of highlife, the Ghanaian pop music that can still be relied on to mix up any dancefloor today. The Ghanaian supergroup Santrofi was born out of its members' deep love for this music. The band conjures up the old spirit and transports it into the future at the same time. The eight young musicians from Accra learned their craft in the bands of legends such as Ebo Taylor, Pat Thomas and Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, whose music has been rediscovered by a new generation in recent years. With Santrofi, this generation is now taking the helm and catapulting Highlife into a new era. On their new album "Making Moves", produced by four-time Grammy winner Jerry Boys, raw grooves meet danceable funk bangers, soulful lyrics meet the unbridled energy of Highlife, and the band doesn't shy away from the booming electronic Afrobeats scene of today. After tours throughout Europe and sold-out shows from Tokyo to Roskilde, Santrofi are now coming to Bremen for the first time.
