Samba, Latin funk, cumbia and anything that shakes Born in Mexico and formerly living in London and Berlin, globetrotter Coco María - born Ana Lucia - grew up surrounded by music at home, but quickly realized that she not only loved listening to it herself, but even more so sharing it with others. When she moved to the English capital, she started collecting CDs and then wax, using her love and knowledge of high-vibrational music to discover Afro-Latino rhythms from South and Central America, Brazil, the Caribbean and beyond. Her selection is a mix of upbeat and obscure gems such as samba, charanga, cumbia and a range of rarities from sunnier, far-flung places. Jazz, soul or boogie are also part of Coco's DNA and are never left out of her selection. This passion and her knowledge of Brazilian, South and Central American music led Coco María to start her own weekly radio show "Club Coco" on Gilles Peterson's online radio Worldwide FM in London, where she spreads the love for these sounds every Wednesday. In 2021, she began curating compilations on Swiss label Bongo Joe, which perfectly encapsulates the sunny energy of her concept and also includes her debut as a producer and singer. In addition to her weekly radio show, mixes and DJ sets at popular venues and festivals worldwide, Coco María also focuses on curating festival stages with her musical vision of Club Coco and her world vision that encompasses both the live and DJ worlds.
