Cornelia Funke: Funkenschlag und Fairytales
In the organizer's words:
The event will take place in the Audimax at Welfenschloss!
“Magician of Words,” children’s book icon, living legend. With over 30 million copies sold and works translated into 50 languages, Cornelia Funke has firmly etched herself into the cultural memory of entire generations. Igraine Fearless, Potilla, and the Wild Chicks are the heroines who have been immersing children and young adults in the world of books for decades. With Funke, this statement isn’t just a cliché—it’s been taken literally, at least since the *Inkheart* trilogy. *Emma Doesn’t Believe in Fairies* is now the first book in a new series. It’s *A Midsummer Night’s Dream* meets *Alice in Wonderland* meets *Peter Pan*. So it’s going to be fantastic once again! A secret fairy realm that needs protecting? Animals and plants as allies? It certainly sounds as though there might be a bridge or two to the non-magical world. The author speaks with salon host Mariel Reichard about new and old heroines—for audiences both young and old.
