In the organizer's words:
CREEP
A musical performance piece about the everyday movie playing in our heads
by YOUNG PATHOS COLLECTIVE
Where does this inner voice come from, the one that constantly tries to convince us that we’re incapable, delusional, and—above all—unlovable—just as we are?
Often, the smallest things are enough to trigger endless chains of thought and sleepless nights. Regardless of the problem’s magnitude, we overthink and let our personal insecurities work against us.
Why do I immediately assume someone doesn’t like me if they don’t follow me back on Instagram right away?
Internalized social norms. Compulsive behavior and cold sweats. Self-alienation, the confusing insecurities of everyday life, the fears that creep in afterward. Problems that torment us in our most private moments and make us seem socially awkward to the outside world.
I have to stop biting my lip like this all the time
What’s wrong with me? Can’t I just be normal?
They’re probably all thinking I’m weird right now
I feel like “fake it till you make it,” but I’m not making it.
Seven young performers from various artistic fields see failure as an opportunity. They give their inner creep a stage and the chance to let it all out. To do this, they’ll meet from January through July to compose, choreograph, and write their own performance piece. Maybe in the process they’ll figure out what actually triggers that “creep.” And maybe, through this honest exploration, he’ll take something away from it too…
Constant questions during the rehearsal process include: How do you talk about your own shortcomings without wallowing in self-pity? And aren’t these just first-world problems? Brutal honesty and autofiction. A whole world of mental cinema—or rather, mental radio. For a world of fool’s freedom!
