Creepy Crypt: Starman (OmU)

On June 20, we start our Summer of Carpenter. From then on, we will be presenting a selection from John Carpenter's extensive filmography. Of course, we can't show you every one of his films, but at least we have Escape From New York, Christine, Prince of Darkness, Starman, Big Trouble in Little China, They Live, The Village of the Damned and Ghosts of Mars on offer. So we don't want to hear any complaints.

In "Starman", Jeff Bridges plays an extraterrestrial visitor who unfortunately doesn't get a nice welcome on Earth. A somewhat unusual John Carpenter movie, but probably also one that not many of you have seen.

The space capsule "Voyager 2" has been floating through space since 1977. Its mission: to tell creatures on other planets about the existence of Earth and invite them to visit us. Now the first guest has arrived: Starman - the most lovable alien since galaxy gnome E.T. But instead of kettledrums and trumpets, the Air Force welcomes him with bombs and missiles. The Starman has to make an emergency landing in the north of the USA - in the middle of the living room of the young, attractive widow Jenny Hayden (Karen Allen). He assumes the form of her recently deceased husband (Jeff Bridges) and forces Jenny to take him to Arizona. There he is to be picked up again in three days by his fellow species. A dangerous 3000-mile chase across the United States begins...
