CSD Frankfurt 2026

Dear friends of the CSD in Frankfurt,

Spring is just around the corner and preparations for the CSD in July are underway in the background. Today we can finally reveal the motto for the 34th CSD and thus open the 2026 season here in Frankfurt.

During the debate on the choice of motto, it quickly became clear that we wanted to commit to the fundamental values that are essential for all of us to live together. Our freedom of expression, the right to demonstrate, freedom of action and equality before the law, our way of living and loving." DOT! All these freedoms, opportunities and protective rights are based on what is probably the greatest achievement of mankind, democracy!

That's why we want to celebrate it this year, which is why our motto this year is:

#Democracy needs no alternative!

is.

Democracy is the foundation of our free life and is under massive pressure from all sides. The United States of America is a cautionary example, where democracy is being eroded at breakneck speed from the top down and we can already see that minorities are under massive political and social pressure. We as CSD want to send a clear signal that our coexistence can only work in a democracy and warn against the strengthening of anti-democratic organizations and networks, regardless of whether it is about supposed alternatives in Germany or the influence of actors from abroad.

Our democracy may not be perfect, but it is the reason for our free life and our protection against a relapse into times gone by. The queer community has never been able to live a more equal life than today, because democracy ensures it. So this year, show us what democracy means to you and, as always, use the # as a call to make our motto your own.
