The positive way of dealing with death is so firmly anchored in Mexican culture that every year on "Día de los Muertos" a lively celebration takes place, which extends over several days and celebrates life and death in equal measure. On 03.11. we would like to take you into this unique tradition, with music from Kumbia Boruka and the Cumbia im Viertel Crew. Come early and preferably dressed up!

KUMBIA BORUKA

Kumbia Boruka is a multicultural band based in Lyon, France, consisting of eight musicians from Mexico, Chile, Argentina and France. The roots of the band are in the city of Monterrey, in the north of Mexico, where the cumbia is the anthem of the neighborhood and where Celso Piña, the legend of Mexican cumbia, was born. Hernán Cortés, the leader of Kumbia Boruka, learned to play the accordion from this great master and accompanied him on long international tours.

The band's music reflects the sound of the Mexican streets: classic cumbia mixed with influences from reggae, dub and tropical music - psychedelic electric guitar melodies, an extensive rhythm section with guacharaca and congas, powerful and exciting wind arrangements and last but not least the brilliant sound of the accordion. This is Kumbia Boruka!

The result is a new cumbia, hybrid and full of power, intense tropical sounds with a wild energy that embraces the rhythms of Latin America.

After the success of their two albums "La Vida se Vive" and "El Remedio" and more than 400 concerts in many parts of the European continent in almost ten years of experience, Kumbia Boruka will release their third album "Fiesta en las Calles" in 2023.
