In the organizer's words:

Our Curator's View tour introduces you to the themes of the exhibition "Myth of Spain. Ignacio Zuloaga" will be presented to you during a tour based on selected works. So come along and discover the world of Spain with us!

Travel with our curatorial team to Spain at the turn of the century and discover large-format and extraordinary paintings by Ignacio Zuloaga. An international star during his lifetime, he shaped the image of Spain abroad like no other artist. This still has an impact today. Many of his paintings still symbolize Spain's identity for us today. Zuloaga focused on figures who, in his opinion, embodied the "true" Spain: toreros, flamenco dancers, the rural population and outsiders. His engagement with the Spanish masters, in particular Velázquez, El Greco and Goya, is also clear. His artistic beginnings, on the other hand, take us to Paris around 1900, where his inspiration from the international art scene becomes clear in café and street scenes as well as his first portraits.
