Who says women can't break? Frieda, Viola and Jilou are among the most successful women in the male-dominated world of breakdancing. DANCING HEARTBEATS follows the dancers as they train hard, compete in international battles and fight for recognition and equal rights.
Breakdancing/breaking was long part of a culture in which women tended to be accessories and were not allowed to be strong, self-confident and wild. Frieda, Jilou and Viola have worked hard to earn their place in the scene and are now among the most successful women in breakdancing. Jilou is a hot candidate for selection at this year's Olympic Games and Germany's medal hope. Frieda is a B-girl from the very beginning, but as she gets older she has to accept that she can no longer rely on her body and find a life after professional sport.
