In the organizer's words:
It goes on! Danger Dan is going on a big fall tour. The announcement comes at just the right moment. It may be spring, but continuously rising AFD poll ratings, growing anti-Semitism and neo-Nazi groups meeting specifically to attack CSDs are just symptoms of a mood that is tipping alarmingly quickly and feels more like a particularly cold winter.
What we need now, please, is not a plea for love or half-baked drivel about community. It's time for anti-fascism, radical art, protest and a relentless confrontation with the present, the world and ourselves. But of course with a certain nonchalance, that special subtle humor. So we need Danger Dan. The piano, the red bomber jacket, above all these unique songs and no fear.
It was more by chance that Danger Dan hit the zeitgeist five years ago with his first piano album and reached people's hearts and minds. The DIY album "Das ist alles von der Kunstfreiheit gedeckt", which went gold, was against all odds one of the most successful piano albums of all time. It has accompanied and even enriched the lives of hundreds of thousands of people and stimulated discourse. Danger Dan has performed it in venerable classical concert halls as well as at Germany's biggest punk festival, together with Igor Levit on Jan Böhmermann's "ZDF Magazin Royale" and at a solo concert in front of the Rote Flora in Hamburg.
At these concerts, punks in leather frocks sat harmoniously next to classical music lovers, indie rockers next to hip-hoppers. In total, a quarter of a million people saw Danger Dan. No label believed in the album beforehand. So he simply released it himself. It was a DIY project with his crew, the Antilopen Gang, and a number of other friends. Without a major label, marketing plan or target group analysis. And yet it reached number 1 in the charts. Danger Dan really just fulfilled an old dream by writing a few piano songs during a break in the Antilopen Gang's tour. With the themes that moved him.
Danger Dan has proven that you don't have to do everything the way everyone does it, just because everyone does it that way, even though everyone is annoyed by it. The opposite is the case. These have been the most intense and certainly the most surprising two years in Danger Dan's life, which, after a completely sold-out tour, were finally crowned with the two birthday concerts in front of 30,000 people in Berlin's Wuhlheide.
Now this exhilarating time is finally coming to an end: "I'm really looking forward to the tour," says Danger Dan. "I've come up with a few things, an intimate setup, shadows will play a role." So you can be curious.
But don't worry: perfectly orchestrated pop concerts are not to be expected this time either. The songs will be dissected at the piano, possibly even chopped up, Danger Dan will tell fantastic stories, name grievances, embrace the audience and carry them away, he will laugh and maybe cry too and he will definitely, definitely lose his temper at least once, you can count on that!
So don't shoot the pianist, we need him. Especially now. Advance ticket sales for the concerts start on Wednesday, June 3 from 6 pm. In view of the sold-out halls of previous tours, you shouldn't wait too long to buy your tickets.
