Petite Eddy grows up in a tough family environment and is confronted with fixed ideas of what a real man should be like. But Eddy's body is more delicate, he gesticulates a lot when he talks and he also notices that he is attracted to male bodies instead of women. This quickly makes the rounds at school and Eddy becomes the target of bullying and humiliation. As a result, everyday life becomes a test for him, which he passes because he adopts his own approach to masculinity and desire and pursues his dream.

In 2014, Édouard Louis published his debut novel, a touching work about coming out, which caused an international sensation because it dealt with homophobic hostility as well as family and school influences.
