From a short distance with a running start straight to the point comes Toben Piel aka Das Kinn on Thursday, April 16, at Schleuse Zwei in the Bilker Bunker.

The Frankfurt sound activist likes to visit cemeteries. In these places of tranquillity and idyll, he finds the necessary distance to reflect on transience and consider the afterlife as a concrete place. His debut album RUINENKAMPF stems from the same way of thinking - distancing yourself just enough to get straight to the point with a running start.

Released on the Hamburg quality label Bureau B, Das Kinn's album is a musical par force ride through the ruins of our time. Using kickboxing phonetics and an electronic armada, it leads us through haunting soundscapes somewhere between DAF, the Kosmische Kurieren and Frankfurt's Bahnhofsviertel.

Beats at full throttle, bones rattling, the organ playing. Warm synthlines played by cold hands. A saxophone ponders the after. Hymns for the demolition; music for the solemn downfall.

For almost two decades now, Toben Piel has been sending out knocking signs and signal sounds from the catacombs around Frankfurt's bank towers in various constellations: as part of the music performance duo Les Trucs, as co-operator of the tape label MMODEMM, with works for theater and radio.

His solo project Das Kinn now allows him to explore the interface of new age and post-punk, hiccups and singing. You shouldn't miss this!

After the concert, marCello will play a DJ set to round off the evening.
