Sheeta, an orphan girl, is kidnapped by a government official named Musca and taken aboard an airship. She possesses a magical blue crystal that identifies her as a descendant of the Kingdom of Laputa and thus links her to the legendary Sky Kingdom. The evil Musca and a gang of sky pirates know the secret of the crystal and want to get their hands on it. Together with the brave boy Pazu, Sheeta endures many adventures while fleeing her pursuers, until the two of them find their way to the ruins of the ancient kingdom. Sheeta and Pazu win over the air pirates as allies and must now fight together against Musca, who is determined to seize the kingdom’s power by any means necessary. The fate of Laputa now lies in their hands …
