„Dass ich nicht lache“. Ephraim Kishon - mit Kriszti Kiss
In the organizer's words:
“There’s nothing else left to do. Just laughter. Someone who laughs is not defeated. As long as I can laugh, I am a person of honor...” Drawing on this insight, the “world champion of satire,” Ephraim Kishon, takes aim at both everyday life and the abysses of human existence with a smile. Ephraim Kishon (1924–2005), an Israeli of Hungarian descent, is considered one of the most significant satirists of the 20th century. His specialty was the humorous portrayal of everyday life in Israel and his family life. He wrote mostly short stories, but also plays and screenplays, and worked in Israel and Switzerland. Irreverent situational comedy, subtle irony, and a keen eye for minor human weaknesses come together in Kishon to form an incomparable blend that establishes him as a humorist of the highest order.
“With the Hungarian accent characteristic of both herself and Kishon, Kiss effortlessly switches between roles with expressive facial expressions and intonation, vividly bringing Kishon’s satire and humor to the stage. Yet it is not so much the well-known stories that the trained actress presents. She focuses on the deeper stories that offer insights into the uniqueness of the Jewish humorist, who drastically exaggerates and reduces himself and the Israeli way of life to absurdity in numerous everyday situations” (Ruhrnachrichten, Dortmund).
Kriszti Kiss received her acting degree from the renowned State Academy of Dramatic Arts in Budapest, her hometown. She has lived in Dortmund for more than thirty years and has since worked as an actress at many renowned theaters and in independent productions, as well as a cabaret artist and chanson singer.
