Between dreams and reality: a millennial generation in the mirror of pop culture

As part of the Münchner Theaterwoche and the Fat Cat Sessions, the collective Unser Duo is presenting a play development inspired by scientific, biographical and autobiographical research as well as elements of pop culture. The performance focuses on the life of the millennial generation, sheds light on the phenomenon of dreaming and questions social expectations and mental health.

Between 2000s romcoms, Gilmore Girls marathons, Flo Rida hooks and galaxy leggings, memories flare up - of a youth in the glitter of possibilities, of a time between irony and genuine longing.

The piece oscillates between the pressure to achieve, self-realization and the search for meaning - between the personal inner life and the collective experiences of a generation that grew up with the promise of everything - and the fear of achieving nothing.

Immersed in a collective emotional world of nostalgia and the search for orientation, the performance walks the fine line between self-optimization and self-loss.

As a mirror of its time, the piece takes up relevant themes and deliberately leaves them in the space - raw, poetic, sometimes absurdly familiar. It is an invitation to self-reflection: in moments of irritation, of recognition, of tender melancholy.

The play was developed in the new stage space Labor im Fat Cat - a place for experiments and encounters.

For all those who wonder when adulthood actually began - and why it still feels like an unfinished draft.

The new collective 'Our Duo' consists of:

Carolin Cirolini graduated from the Zerboni acting school in Munich in 2019. In addition to theater performances, she frequently appears in film and television in German and international productions.

Marie Scholz studied acting and performance in Glasgow and works as an actress, director and producer in England, Germany and the USA.

The Münchner Theaterwoche is a new cultural festival and will take place for the first time from June 3-8, 2025. The festival provides new insights into Munich's diverse and colorful theater world. 'Unser Duo' is looking forward to being a part of it.
