Dekoloniale Stadtführung im Gedenken an Martha Ndumbe mit KIEZimPULS
In the organizer's words:
Gesundbrunnen and Wedding are characterized by places, names, and events linked to the colonial history of the German Empire, the Nazi era, and its aftermath.
KIEZimPULS invites you to join Justice Mvemba from Dekoloniale Stadtführung on Martha Ndumbe’s birthday for a decolonial neighborhood walk, where we’ll discuss the historical past and its impact on the present.
We’ll explore German colonialism, racism, and misanthropy during the Nazi era, as well as the lasting effects of these historical chapters that continue to this day. We’ll focus specifically on our neighborhood and Wedding.
We’ll meet at the fountain in the center of Martha-Ndumbe-Platz. Since the former Nettelbeckplatz was finally renamed in 2025—a milestone in the efforts of activist groups to decolonize Berlin—we’ll begin our tour here.
At various stops along the way—including Humboldthain—we’ll discuss what we can do to combat the historical continuities of exploitation, oppression, and violence. The walk ends at the Black Wedding Bar. Anyone who’d like to chat with neighbors over a drink is welcome to stay.
Start: 6:30 p.m., fountain at Martha-Ndumbe-Platz
End: 8:00/8:30 p.m., Black Wedding Bar
