DEM PÖBEL ZUR FREUDE | Zu Gast: Paul Sies | HAMBURG
In the organizer's words:
To the Delight of the Crowd – with @kriegundfreitag, Johannes Floehr, Ella Carina Werner, and Piero Masztalerz
The monthly reading show—every third Wednesday of the month
In the past, the masses were entertained with gladiator fights, juggling acts, and other forms of entertainment to help them forget the frustrations of everyday life—and today it’s exactly the same! Every month, Hamburg’s celebrated entertainers @kriegundfreitag, Johannes Floehr, Ella Carina Werner, and Piero Masztalerz present a fresh, one-of-a-kind show packed with punchline-filled stories, stand-up comedy, cartoons, videos, and even singing—if the crowd asks nicely. Plus, there’s a fantastic special guest every time!
The cast:
Johannes Floehr can count to 1,000 with his eyes closed and is the former class president of 5a. With his material, he’s made it all the way from Krefeld to the Elbphilharmonie—something no one before him has ever managed or even attempted. The Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote: “The funniest thing currently to be found on German-speaking stages!” Admittedly, that wasn’t about him—but maybe it will be someday.
Piero Masztalerz is a multi-award-winning cartoonist, and with his stage show, the comedian has created an entirely new genre: he essentially converses live with his characters on stage. His cartoons are well-known online under the name schoenescheisse.de. For “Dem Pöbel zur Freude,” he’ll be in charge of the music, since he’s the oldest member of the group and has the best taste.
You might know @kriegundfreitag from the internet, his books, or his fabulous hairstyle. He’s also made it from Krefeld to the Elbphilharmonie—though only as a member of the audience. The cartoonist, who has won several (two) awards, likes to put himself under pressure with over-the-top announcements. On stage, he plans to present not only virtuoso drawings but also some outstanding writing.
Ella Carina Werner is the daughter of a belly dancer and a psychotherapist, and when she’s at the mic, she’s sort of a mix of both. She is a columnist and co-editor of the Frankfurt satire magazine “Titanic.” Her short stories—most of which are based on her own experiences—sound “like Kafka after a good joint” (Spiegel Online).
