In the organizer's words:

Heidelberg is known for its lively culture of debate, but what about our co-determination? While we want to have our say locally, the state politicians and the CDU are planning massive restrictions in some cases (keyword: end of citizens' petitions in urban land-use planning). We say: Not with us!

We are bringing the "Democracy Awakening" to the Bahnstadt community center. We will talk straight about how we can finally make local referendums in BW so simple that they no longer fail due to bureaucratic hurdles.

The podium (from resistance to the paragraph check):

• Ralf-Uwe Beck: Our federal chairman. Anyone who knows him knows that he is passionate about direct democracy and is guaranteed to get the audience going with his passion.

• Andrea Knorr: The power practitioner. She led a citizens' petition in Überlingen to success against all odds and tells us how to win when things get dicey.

• Prof. Arne Pautsch: The lawyer who speaks plain language. As a top expert in participation law, he knows exactly what levers need to be pulled in the state parliament to ensure that the will of the citizens becomes law.

• Dr. Edgar Wunder: Our "lifeline" from the advice center. He has already saved hundreds of initiatives from legal failure and knows every trick in the book.
