Werner Ruhnau's work combines architecture with visual and performing arts. The exhibition at the Baukunstarchiv NRW will present Ruhnau's oeuvre from his estate from May 16. The exhibition is sponsored by the LWL Cultural Foundation as part of the cultural program for the anniversary year 2025 "1250 Years of Westphalia".
The exhibition on the work of Werner Ruhnau is another major exhibition by the Baukunstarchiv NRW, which is based on a collection and monographically presents the work of an architect. The aim here was to concentrate on the architecture, find characteristic themes and present them. In Ruhnau's diverse oeuvre, which in addition to buildings encompasses a variety of artistic, urban planning and community activities, it is nevertheless obvious to return to the recurring themes of play and theater. For this reason, the exhibition has included the venues of the Theater Münster and the Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen from the outset.
Duration of the exhibition "The architect Werner Ruhnau in Westphalia: Building for the Open Society": May 16 - July 27, 2025, Baukunstarchiv NRW
