In 2033, the first Bonn Opera Festival takes place in the old, now redundant Bonn Bundestag to celebrate the takeover of power by the radical right-wing party: It opens with a new production of the "German folk opera" DER FREISCHÜTZ. In their scenic and textual reinterpretation of the classic, Volker Lösch and Lothar Kittstein succeed in a differentiated examination of the history of its reception, which allows the play and its main themes - fear of failure and social pressure - to appear in a new light.
